Why Should I Hire a Sleep Consultant?

With all the information easily available online, and of course, the expertise of friends and family who’ve been through this before and have successfully managed to get their kids to sleep – why would you hire a stranger to help you get your child to sleep?

This may not be the exact question on your mind, but I’m sure it’s a concern you and plenty of other parents have when thinking about getting professional help for their baby’s sleep. It’s a valid concern!

And let me just say, if you have someone who can help you through this, I will not be the least bit offended if you want to ask them for help instead of calling me in. After all, we’re all trying to save money wherever we can, so if you can fix the problem without paying for it – I’m all for it!

After all – your mother managed to get you to sleep at some point. Your grandmother definitely didn’t have any problems getting her kids to sleep well. And your best friend has a bunch of kids who are all champion sleepers. And none of them paid for it. So they should have some answers for you – right?

Well, yes – they will have answers for you. But then again, they might not.

Most of the time, my clients have already tried going to their friends and family for advice, but the majority of the time, find that it wasn’t helpful.

And there are a lot of reasons for this.

The most obvious – you’re not dealing with the same baby. Each baby has a different temperament. Some babies rely heavily on sleep props. Others may have developed an association between feeding and sleeping. Still, another may not be getting enough daytime sleep, while others may be overtired.

And of course, your baby could be struggling with a combination of all the above, or none of the above – and may be facing a different challenge.

Add to this the fact that most solution do not work overnight, so parents might try a solution that could possibly work, but give up before it takes effect due to some heavy protesting on baby’s part!

To sum up, Baby. Sleep. Is. Complicated. Rarely will there be one single thing that can remedy a situation overnight.

This is where I come in.

A professional sleep consultant has the experience and training to recognize which problems result in which specific symptoms, and can work with you to develop a personalized plan for your child to address those individual issues. They can also provide some much needed support and hand-holding when things don’t seem to be working, and give you the encouragement you need to follow through on that plan until it starts to work.

And this is actually what makes working with me so unique. I don’t just hand you a guide telling you what to do and leave you hanging. I continue to work with you so that you can develop the confidence to put your baby down with ease and manage any bumps that may come along.

Consider the example of a personal trainer. You could just get some dumbbells and watch some YouTube videos in order to get in shape, so why pay someone to guide you along? Because they’re able to give you solid advice based on education and experience, they can help to keep you motivated, and they know how to respond to the problems that might arise when it comes to your specific situation.

It’s the same with baby sleep – I hope for everyone to find success on their own and with as few bumps in the road as possible. Even more so, I hope for everyone to have unicorn babies that just sleep well from the beginning. But if that doesn’t happen, I am here to provide you with the answers and support you need!
